And then there were 25 (more)...

Well, the past few weeks have been a whirlwind of activity. Cheryla came and went. The police, teachers, and customs officers went on and off strike. Girls conference was cancelled, rescheduled, cancelled again, rescheduled again. And my dad came and also went (he was able to leave on his original travel day, however - strikes did not close down the airport for him). And then the new group of volunteers, G16, arrived in country, all 25 of them, looking so fresh and so clean compared to us grubby PCVs who have arrived 2 years and 7 days ago. It's exciting to have new teachers finally here.

Well - the new PCTs had a good few days in Conakry, and yesterday morning they all left for Forecariah. I can imagine them all - laying in bed, sweating like crazy, trying to keep every body part as far away from every other body part as much as possible in an attempt to make you feel even half a degree cooler. Oh those were the days...

As far as me, well, last night, I had, perhaps the worst night of sleep of my life. I was running a 103.5 fever, I got up to run to the bathroom at least 10 times (and maybe another 15 times since this morning), my head was pounding all night long, I couldn't stop sweating or shivering all at the same time. All day long I've been feeling like crap...I did get tested, and don't have malaria (which is what I was convinced I had last night). I'm just hoping that tonight I'm able to get some sleep.

If all goes well with this viral infection tonight, Jen and I will be taking off for Mamou in the morning to put the last finishing touches on Girls Conference organizing - which will finally be happening on August 3-7.

Well, Dr. Traian is coming to check out my nasty virus...I'm just hoping he can give me some miracle drug to make my stomach pain go away.

Till a healthier next time,
Oo'o
